US Supports Mozambique’s Digital Transformation to Improve Regional Competitiveness

The Ambassador of the United States of America (USA), Peter H. Vrooman, said on Wednesday, June 28, during the Technology Fair (MozTech), that the digital transformation in Mozambique is essential because in this way the country will become more competitive at the regional level.

According to the diplomat, quoted by the online news portal, The Country, besides developing at the socio-economic level, with technological innovation, Mozambique will be able to solve the main challenges of employment and stimulate development. “The US government recognises the role that technology plays at the economic level,” he said.

Vrooman also recalled that US President Joe Biden launched last year a digital transformation technology initiative for Africa, in order to fund the sector in digital capacity building to boost literacy, regulators and decision makers.

According to the head of US diplomacy in Mozambique, although Mozambique has the technological potential, innovation and competitiveness will only make sense if there is infrastructure.
