Huawei is among the most active manufacturers in the foldable device segment, but the Chinese technology company has also been quietly building a presence in the foldable laptop market.
Its first foldable laptop was launched in May last year, and Huawei has now announced an updated version: the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design 2026.
The device features an 18-inch LPTO OLED flexible display with a resolution of 3,296 x 2,472 pixels. It comes with a compact stand that allows it to function as a monitor, syncing with a keyboard for enhanced productivity. When folded, the screen operates as a conventional 13-inch laptop.
Huawei also announced a global launch event for its Pura 90 series smartphones, set to take place next week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design 2026 is equipped with a liquid metal hinge that enables users to position the device at multiple angles. Under the hood, it carries the new Kirin X90 Plus processor, up to 32GB of RAM, and internal storage options reaching up to 2TB.
The battery capacity remains unchanged from the previous model at 74.69Wh. On the software side, Huawei Central reports that the laptop ships with HarmonyOS 6.1 pre-installed.
For now, the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design 2026 is confirmed exclusively for the Chinese market. It will be available in three configurations: 24GB RAM with 512GB storage, 24GB RAM with 1TB storage, and 32GB RAM with 2TB storage. The entry-level configuration starts at approximately €3,200.
A broader global rollout will depend on whether Huawei announces international availability plans. The device will be offered through the brand's online store in black, white, and gold colourways.
