HCB Inaugurates Digital Platform for Supplier Management

On Wednesday (24), Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) S.A. officially inaugurated its new ‘Supplier Portal’ in Maputo. According to a statement from the company, the main aim of the new digital platform is to ensure compliance with the company’s procurement policies and procedures, as well as improving and speeding up the process of launching tenders for the supply of goods and services.

During the launch ceremony, Tomás Matola, chairman of HCB’s board of directors, emphasised the importance of the new portal. ‘This renewed platform, with new elements, will transform the way we interact with suppliers and how we conduct the procurement processes for goods and services at HCB,’ said Matola.

The president also pointed out that the company, ‘the largest energy producer in Mozambican and one of the largest in Africa, recorded around 2.2 billion meticals in annual purchases of goods and services. Of these, 60 per cent were made on the domestic market, representing approximately 1.32 billion meticals in purchases from Mozambican companies.”

Tomás Matola emphasised that the ‘Supplier Portal’ is a demonstration of HCB’s commitment to transparency, efficiency and fairness in procurement processes, reflecting the company’s commitment to promoting the country’s economic development.

According to him, as a listed company, HCB is subject to the highest standards of transparency and integrity. ‘The new portal also aims to ensure that investors and potential investors are properly informed in order to make informed and correct decisions.’ Tomás Matola concluded his speech by expressing the expectation that the new platform will foster solid partnerships and create sustainable value, contributing to economic development and improving the living conditions of Mozambicans.

The ‘Supplier Portal’ also aims to strengthen the transparency and security of registered data, providing a more efficient and accessible environment for interaction between HCB and its suppliers. The platform is designed to create a level playing field and ensure that all suppliers, regardless of their size or location, have equal access to supply opportunities.

“We are excited about the positive impact the “Supplier Portal” will have on our purchasing practices and on making life easier for suppliers. We invite everyone to adopt this new platform and join us on this journey of collaboration, innovation and growth,’ emphasised Tomás Matola.
