Google seems to be changing its position towards users and the space they occupy in its services. In a recent position it has started to account for all the space occupied for the total quota, leaving users with problems.
This does not seem to have been a unique position and Google has now come up with another measure that it will apply. It will delete users’ accounts if they do not use it or repeatedly exceed the quota.
This is a measure that could influence the users of its services in the medium term. In a recent announcement Google announced that it will now monitor users’ accounts to apply restrictions on those that are not used or exceed the limits.
From 1 June 2021, all accounts that are inactive will be under observation. If this status is maintained for 2 years, the account will be deleted completely and without any notification to the user.
Thus, and for all those who do not access their accounts for 24 months, the scenario will certainly not be positive. On the same June 1st, 2023, Google will delete the account and all data in it. This is a process that cannot be reversed.
Similarly, all accounts that exceed the 15 GB quota for 2 consecutive years will have their data deleted. This way the management of the data will have to be done much more carefully by the users.
