Facebook Launches Marketplace in Nigeria

Facebook announced the launch of Marketplace in Nigeria, a simple platform where people within a local community can explore, buy and sell products from others.

The launch of the Marketplace by Facebook in Nigeria is aimed at leveraging the promising e-commerce surge caused by the global pandemic COVID-19.

The launch is in line with the company’s “ongoing efforts to help boost buying, selling and connecting communities in Nigeria,” according to Adaora Ikenze, Facebook’s Head of Public Policy for Anglophone Africa.

The Marketplace is only for users who are at least 18 years old and have been on Facebook for some time.

The marketplace will increase the use of Facebook in Nigeria.
