The Bank of Mozambique could finalise the implementation of its new integrated IT system by the end of this year, to ensure efficiency in market management operations and national reserves.
According to the institution’s governor, Rogério Zandamela, quoted by Rádio Moçambique, the technological infrastructure will also allow, among other gains, effectiveness and efficiency in transactions with state and financial institutions and the Mozambique Stock Exchange.
“The mechanism could be implemented soon and will be a method of monitoring financial movements, with a view to combating money laundering offences, the financing of illegal activities and other prohibited operations,” explained Zandamela last Thursday, during the 5th meeting of the governor of the Bank of Mozambique and the directors of the central bank’s branches, in Bilene, Gaza.
