The project was tested in the Marracuene district where the drones traveled a distance of approximately 14 kilometers from the district headquarters village to the Mutanhane area with thirty samples for testing.
Speaking to Radio Mozambique, Deosdélio Malamule of the National Health Institute said that the drones will be used on an experimental basis in remote areas and areas of difficult access in the province of Inhambane.
“We have five very critical points in Inhambane where, especially in times of rain, some samples end up staying weeks or even months without being transported. We think that with this use of drones, we can reach all the places we want,” he said.
