Mozambican researchers are involved in the production of nutritional supplements to respond to Covid-19.

The information was released last Tuesday in Maputo by the Deputy Minister of Health, Lídia Cardozo, on the occasion of the World Traditional Medicine Day.

Lídia Cardozo said that the health sector has several studies concluded on the production of vitamin supplements as a contribution of traditional medicine in the prevention and strengthening of immunity.

As an example, a nutritional supplement called Ekume was launched today, which according to the Health Minister will help people’s immunity.

The representative of the World Health Organization, Tomás Valdez, says that this entity will continue to support and empower more practitioners of Traditional Medicine.

Tomás Valdez appeals to the authorities to promote traditional medicine, especially when it comes to preventing and fighting the new Coronavirus.

In his turn, the representative of the researchers of the Pedagogical University, Leonel Mucaca, says that the production of the nutritional supplements is the result of an analysis and joint work.

The World Traditional Medicine Day is celebrated this year under the motto: Potential Contribution of Traditional Medicine to the Response to Covid-19.
