The remunerated rotary parking service in KaMpfumu, Maputo city, will, as of tomorrow, be paid by electronic means in order to improve the collection of municipal revenues.
The information was shared at a press conference by the President of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Mobility and Parking Company (EMME), João Ruas, who assured that the new payment system will result in the collection of revenues of eight million meticais per week.
Ruas indicated that the service makes room for drivers to access, through their cell phones, a mobile application called M-Parking, to make the payment.
He mentioned that the act will be operated in a safe and efficient manner, so that there is no detour of revenue, using for this purpose services from some mobile phone operators and credit or debit cards.
“Many times, our collectors did not issue receipts and, daily, we lost approximately five million meticais”, he referred.
He added that the funds collected will also help the municipality to improve the provision of public services, through the construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure.
EMME has, in its headquarters, a control room that allows the verification of the movement in all parking spots in the country’s capital, thus enabling a better supervision of the amount collected.
The new service will cover, in a first stage, only the avenues Alberto Lithuli and Samora Machel, and later the other parking spots in the cement zone.
