Dell Technologies and OpenAI Join Forces to Boost AI-Driven Cyber Defence

Dell Technologies has joined forces with OpenAI in a collective industry initiative to strengthen cyber defence through artificial intelligence, as digital threats evolve at an accelerating pace. The initiative seeks to mobilise technology companies, governments and organisations to develop a coordinated response to cyber risks.

According to OpenAI's proposal, the rapid advancement of AI makes it increasingly urgent for organisations to improve their preparedness against ever more sophisticated attacks. The technology can be deployed by both defenders and attackers alike, heightening the need to reinforce security mechanisms across all sectors.

Among the measures being championed is the use of AI to enhance existing cybersecurity tools, enabling organisations to identify threats, analyse vulnerabilities and respond to incidents more rapidly. OpenAI is also recommending that organisations continuously stress-test their defences against advanced cyber capabilities, with the aim of identifying weaknesses before they can be exploited by malicious actors.

Another priority identified by the initiative is making AI-based defence solutions more accessible and easier to implement, particularly in sectors responsible for critical infrastructure.

Dell Technologies, for its part, says it is investing in strengthening the security of its products, with the goal of ensuring that customers have access to a more secure and resilient technology foundation. The company's strategy encompasses resilient infrastructure and devices, cyber-resilience solutions and specialised security services, covering multiple layers of the technology supply chain.

Dell also emphasises that cybersecurity must extend beyond prevention alone. The company argues that organisations must equally ensure their capacity to detect and contain attacks, verify that remediation measures are effective, and recover affected systems and data rapidly.

Through this partnership, Dell aims to work alongside industry peers, governments and customers to translate the call for collective action into concrete outcomes, helping to protect more organisations and reinforce the security of critical systems in the face of an increasingly complex digital threat landscape.
