The Communication, Marketing, and Public Relations Forum (COMARP 2025), held this Thursday, September 11, in Maputo, brought together experts in communication, marketing, and public relations to discuss the new frontiers of digitalization. On this occasion, the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Américo Muchanga, represented by Lourino Chemane, emphasized digital transformation as a strategic opportunity to modernize organizations and expand markets in Mozambique.
The event’s central theme was “Digital Transformation and the New Frontiers of Communication and Marketing”, aiming to explore how digital technologies can drive Mozambique’s economic, social, and cultural development. Beyond a technological shift, the minister’s representative highlighted that digital transformation also represents a change in mindset, stressing the need for an ethical and inclusive approach.
Lourino Chemane noted the reality of connectivity in Mozambique, where only about 20% of the population has Internet access. Despite this scenario, the annual increase of approximately 200,000 new Internet users demonstrates significant progress toward digital inclusion, particularly in the country’s more remote areas.
Meanwhile, Helen McIntee-Carlisle, President of the African Marketing Confederation, also highlighted the importance of communication in the transformation process. According to her, “Communication is the key to unlocking Africa’s potential,” emphasizing that digitalization provides a powerful platform to connect markets and promote sustainable growth across the continent.
In addition to communication, the Forum discussed the crucial role of public relations in building trust among companies, governments, and citizens. Public relations are essential for creating transparency and credibility, which are vital for a country’s development. The use of emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, was also highlighted, as these tools are transforming how companies position themselves in the market and connect with consumers, enabling more effective and personalized communication.
COMARP Forum 2025 is an annual event, with this being its third edition. The initiative reinforced the commitment to promoting a digital, inclusive, and resilient society, advancing Mozambique toward the new frontiers of development.
