Angolan startup KambaWork has launched a digital platform that consolidates job listings, internships, volunteer opportunities, scholarships, courses and micro-work assignments in a single space, with the aim of improving young Angolans' access to professional and educational opportunities.
The platform allows users to create profiles and upload CVs, search for opportunities by province and category, and submit applications directly. Companies and institutions can also create accounts, post opportunities and engage with candidates in a more structured manner.
According to the startup, the initiative is designed to address the difficulty many young people face in finding opportunities in a market where information is scattered across multiple channels. "The problem is not just a lack of jobs. Opportunities are frequently fragmented across Facebook pages, WhatsApp groups, company websites and informal networks," said Tárcio Costa, founder and CEO of KambaWork, speaking to Disrupt Africa.
For Costa, this fragmentation makes it harder for candidates to identify legitimate, current opportunities suited to their profiles, while simultaneously making the recruitment process less organised for employers.
KambaWork seeks to bring together in a single digital environment the opportunities that typically surface across disparate platforms and social networks. Beyond searching for listings, users can build a professional profile and upload their curriculum vitae, with search functionality available by province and opportunity category, enabling more targeted queries.
On the corporate side, the platform enables companies and institutions to create accounts, publish openings and establish contact with prospective candidates. The service is intended to have national coverage, encompassing opportunities from Cabinda in the north to Cunene in the south.
KambaWork has been developed to date using the founders' own resources, in a process known as bootstrapping. In this early stage, the startup has concentrated its efforts on product development, user testing and demand assessment, ahead of pursuing major partnerships or seeking external funding.
The platform currently lists 42 opportunities as the startup works to expand its offering and consolidate the service. For the company, this initial phase is important not only for the number of users it attracts, but also for the feedback it generates. KambaWork intends to use that experience to refine the product ahead of its official launch.
KambaWork is positioning itself as a single access point for professional and educational opportunities in Angola, seeking to reduce information fragmentation and improve connectivity between young people, companies and institutions across the country.
