OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Images 2.5 With Faster Generation and New Tools

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Images 2.5, an updated version of its image generation tool featuring improvements in visual quality, faster processing speeds, and new resources for personalisation and collaborative workflows. The update is available across ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex.

According to the company, the model produces images with sharper detail, more natural lighting, and richer textures, bringing results closer to photorealism. Image generation is also 50% faster than the previous version, reducing wait times for users creating and editing visuals.

Among the new features is Sketch, which allows users to create drafts directly within the chat interface using the ‘@sketch’ command. The functionality can be used to develop concepts such as diagrams, logos, and interior design projects.

OpenAI has also introduced new templates within the Images tab, capable of prompting users with additional questions to help generate more personalised results. Another addition is the ability to share the prompt used to create an image alongside the output itself, enabling others to reproduce or adapt the original idea.

ChatGPT Images 2.5 also allows users to add comments directly onto generated images, specifying particular changes they wish to make. Additionally, reference images can be saved for reuse in future creations.

According to Exame magazine, with these features OpenAI aims to make image creation and editing more accessible within the conversational environment itself, reducing the need to switch between different tools. The new capabilities allow users to move from an initial concept through multiple versions of an image while maintaining greater control over which elements are modified.

The update further expands the potential applications of ChatGPT Images in areas including advertising, graphic design, social media content creation, and visual identity development. The combination of faster generation, visual references, annotation tools, and prompt sharing is intended to streamline both individual creative work and collaborative projects.
