UAE and Ethiopian Aviation Authorities Sign Partnership

The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with its United Arab Emirates, or UAE, counterpart.

The agreement was signed during UAE’s civil aviation authority Director General Seif Mohamed Alsuwaidi’s visit to Addis Ababa last week.

The ECAA, in a statement issued on Thursday, says the agreement is a result of the growing relations between Ethiopia and the UAE.

It will allow the two aviation regulators to work in close collaboration, the ECAA states.

The agreement sets aside basic agendas for cooperation between the two civil aviation authorities in the global arena.

It will also pave the way for a partnership that will support the service delivery of Ethiopian civil aviation with technology.

The support will also include the aviation sector regulator’s push to put operation licensing and control systems in place for drone-related technologies.

Alsuwaidi pledged to provide technical backing to the ECAA’s plan to establish an African Safety Excellence Center.

Alsuwaidi and Getache discussed areas to further cooperation including ways to share experiences from ECAA’s vast works in the aviation sector.

The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority has a history of over 50 years, making it one of the oldest civil aviation authorities in Africa.
