The districts of Palma, Nangade and Mocímboa da Praia, in the north of Cabo Delgado province may be affected by a moderate tropical cyclone today, 22 April.
The storm may be characterised by the occurrence of heavy rains, accompanied by severe thunderstorms and winds with strong gusts, the National Meteorological Institute (INAM) said in a statement.
The phenomenon results from the formation of a depression north of Madagascar on 19 April in the Indian Ocean, which evolved into a moderate tropical storm named “Jobo”, and current projections indicate that this weather system still “has strong probabilities to reach the stage of tropical cyclone today, Thursday (22).
INAM ensures that it is monitoring this phenomenon “and once again, calls on the population to continue to monitor the meteorological information and the warnings issued by the competent national authorities”.
