Spain will hold on Wednesday and Thursday a virtual fair in which it will promote its universities to Brazilian students and students from Portuguese-language African countries (PALOP), diplomatic sources told Lusa.
Called “Studying in Spain,” the fair will take place on 27 and 28 October and will be held in virtual format to facilitate access to all students from Brazil and PALOPs interested in studying in Spain.
In total, 18 public and private Spanish universities will present a wide academic offer through their virtual stands.
“The aim of the ‘Estudar en España’ fair is to publicise the potential of Spain and its network of higher education institutions as a preferential and quality destination for students from various countries,” the Spanish Embassy in Brasilia indicated in a statement.
The event is the responsibility of the Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE), linked to the Ministry of Universities, in collaboration with the Education Office of the Spanish Embassy in Brazil, the Cervantes Institute, the Spanish Tourism Institute (Turespaña) and ICEX (Spain, Export and Investment).
“Students who visit this fair will have a unique opportunity to obtain first-hand information about the participating universities, as well as schedule private meetings with the different institutions present, and all this through a virtual platform that perfectly recreates the visitor’s experience at a face-to-face fair,” the statement added, stressing that registration is free.
According to data released by the Spanish Embassy, Brazil is one of the countries with the highest level of research and growth in university enrolment, with “almost 8.5 million students in higher education.
The focuses of interest for Brazilian students who choose Spain are doctoral or double master’s programmes, with part of the studies in one country and their completion in another, especially those that confer double degrees.
In 2020, Spain received more than 4,440 students, according to the statistics on internationalisation of university education from the Spanish Ministry of Universities.
