S&P Global reported stronger-than-expected profit growth in the second quarter, the company announced on Tuesday, driven by client demand for its ratings, indices, market intelligence products and analytics solutions amid elevated geopolitical uncertainty.
The financial information group also announced agreements to acquire DataCenterHawk, a specialist provider of data centre intelligence, and to take a majority stake in Agusto & Co., the African credit rating agency — moves that reinforce its analytics, infrastructure and credit ratings businesses.
Revenue at the New York-headquartered company rose 10% to $4.15 billion, while adjusted earnings per share grew 23% to $4.83, driven by strong performance across its Ratings, Indices and Market Intelligence divisions.
S&P Global revised its 2026 outlook following the 1 July spin-off of its Mobility unit, and now expects adjusted diluted earnings per share of between $17.50 and $17.75, with revenue growth of between 5.9% and 7.9%. The transaction created an independent publicly listed company, Mobility Global, and sharpened the group’s focus on its core businesses of credit ratings, indices, market intelligence and energy.
The company operates within the broader software and services sector, as its principal activities — including the provision of financial data, analytics and credit ratings — rely heavily on proprietary databases and advanced computational tools.
