The Zambezi Valley Development Agency announces an investment estimated in 130 million dollars for the development of two projects in the central region of the country.
These are the first funding announced during the first “Regional Meeting for the Development of Communities” held in Chimoio city.
The projects will be allocated directly to the four Provincial Executive Councils of the central region, with a focus on business linkages and connectivity, aiming at Developing Small and Medium Enterprises.
The projects are under the management of Zambezi Valley and Northern Development Agencies.
According to Roberto Albino, general director of the Zambezi Valley Development Agency, the first project, valued at US$100 million, has been underway since July, focusing on communities.
The governors of the central region of the country, namely Manica, Sofala, Tete and Zambézia, and partners are debating issues about the improvement of the communities’ life, at an event in the central region.
The event has three panels with themes focused on the population, and solutions are to be found to improve the life of the communities.
The presentations include the need for sustainable exploration of the potentialities of the Great Zambezi and the arable lands of the region, aiming at production and productivity with a focus on exportation, as well as guaranteeing food security.
The partners understand that there are conditions for large-scale production but that technical and material conditions need to be created for it to take place.
The Zambezi giants conclude that the central region has the agro-ecological conditions to produce and express themselves in the economic balance of Mozambique, in reducing imports.
