The Government of Senegal expressed on Monday, May 5, its intention to deepen bilateral relations with Mozambique, demonstrating mutual commitment and marking a new era of cooperation based on peace, economic development, and African integration.
The desire was expressed by Yassine Fall, special envoy to Mozambique of Senegalese President Bassirou Faye, during a meeting in Maputo with President Daniel Chapo.
“We have good diplomatic relations, and we would like to intensify economic cooperation, solidarity, and partnerships in various areas. There are many opportunities in Mozambique, particularly in water, land, agriculture, hydrocarbons, and tourism,” she stated.
The Senegalese diplomat emphasized that the country has crucial infrastructure that influences trade transactions between various countries that do not have ports, highlighting that these infrastructures are modern and secure.
Fall, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration of Senegal, stated that the new generation of heads of state on the continent brings a vision focused on sovereignty, development, and the inclusion of African youth, emphasizing the urgency of a meeting between the leaders of the two nations.
“Africa is a continent of young people, who form the foundation of its wealth. Therefore, trust, solidarity, and partnership are factors that will greatly contribute to the continent’s construction and empower each country,” she concluded.
