The Government appreciated and approved the proposal for revision of the Foreign Exchange Law to be submitted to the Parliament. This information comes in a report of the 14th session of the Council of Ministers, which was held on Tuesday, May 3, in Maputo.
The newspaper Notícias reported that the proposed law aims to adjust the current legal regime to the current stage of economic growth of the country with the aim of reducing the existing bureaucracy in carrying out foreign exchange operations, making the market increasingly faster and in line with technological changes in favour of the fluidity of traffic in international trade relations.
The Council of Ministers also considered the report of the State visit of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, to Uganda, which took place between 27 and 29 April last, as well as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme with regard to the agreed measures. During the same session, a progress report was also made on the Compact II development programme with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The holding of the VII edition of the International Tourism Fair (FIKANI Mozambique) in Maputo, from 13 to 15 October next, and the cholera situation in the provinces of Sofala and Zambezia as well as measles in the provinces of Tete and Niassa were also issues appreciated in this Council of Ministers.
