Reopening all Beaches During Festive Season Under Consideration

The opening of all beaches in Mozambique is planned during the festive season, TVM reports, adding that the conditions to be observed must be previously defined.

The proposals came from the provincial governments that own beaches and leisure facilities in the country and will be taken to the Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, at a meeting with provincial governors and administrators of coastal zones, within the scope of the 2nd edition of the Growing Blue Conference, Vice-Minister of Culture and Tourism Fredson Bacar said that the re-opening of beaches would be subject to the behaviour of users.

Bacar observed that beaches are one of the country’s main attractions and contribute to the growth of indicators relating to tourism demand, investments, accommodation and restaurants, as well as the creation of permanent and seasonal jobs.

The country’s beaches contribute to the economy and to the generation of income and revenue for the state. Reopening them depends on the presentation by local governments of postures for users and conditions to control crowding and excessive alcohol consumption in the context of containing the spread of Covid-19.
