The Mozambican President cended his working visit to the United Kingdom on Saturday. During his stay in that country, Filipe Nyusi and his wife attended the coronation ceremony of King Charles III. The Head of State also attended the Commonwealth Leaders’ meeting and held bilateral meetings.
The Mozambican Head of State was one of a small number of foreign, British and civil society personalities who attended the solemn investiture ceremony of the King, an act which had not taken place in the United Kingdom for 70 years. In his assessment of the visit to the United Kingdom, Filipe Nyusi praised the unity, the appreciation of culture and the identity of the British people.
“It was good to see the mobilisation and affluence of the British people in the streets, squares and gardens of London to follow the coronation ceremony of the new King. This represents the unity, appreciation of the culture and identity of the people. We look forward to strengthening diplomatic relations between Mozambique, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth member countries,” said Nyusi.
Nyusi described the visit as fruitful because there was space for diplomatic meetings without too many formalities.
At the Commonwealth leaders’ meeting on Friday, the Head of State reiterated that self-employment is one of the solutions that has been effective in the Mozambican context.
