PESOE Foresees a 178 Billion Meticals Investment for Creation of More Jobs in 2023

Data from the Economic and Social Plan and State Budget (PESOE) indicates that about 178 billion meticais should be invested to boost economic growth and job generation this year in the country, with a view to creating wealth in families and reducing social inequalities.

According to the document, quoted by the newspaper Notícias, the amount established for 2023 will be to promote the creation of new jobs and finance youth initiatives for self-employment and income generation.

The activities are inserted in the framework of the Support Fund for Youth Initiatives (FAIJ) developed by the Mozambican State.

Also this year, the Secretariat of State for Youth and Employment (SEJE) will continue its efforts to finance projects to support productivity for youth-owned businesses, as part of the Emprega Program, launched in 2021 by the Government.

On the one hand, business management training grants are expected to be made available to thousands of young people, under the “Acredita Emprega” program, whose implementation is underway since 2022, and, on the other hand, the Labor and Social Security sector is expected to distribute self-employment “kits” to various groups, with emphasis on associations of former miners and their dependents.

The Government will continue to work to improve the inclusion of girls in the National Education System (SNE), in order to guarantee gender equity in access to employment, especially in encouraging the participation of women in the country’s economic growth.

Under the “I am capable” program, running since 2021, about ten thousand girls will receive bicycles to shorten their commuting time to school and offer them more possibilities to support their families in income generation facilities, as well as the distribution of pairs of school uniforms to the target group.

The “I am capable” program has also contributed to the reduction of premature unions and early pregnancies, especially in the central and northern regions of the country.
