Pandemic Pushes More Than Two Thousand Workers Out of a Job in Sofala

More than two thousand workers of various branches of activities in Sofala province were dismissed from their jobs this year due to the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Most of the companies that have declared bankruptcy are from the sectors of industry and commerce and restaurants, according to the president of the commission for public administration and local government of the Assembly of the Republic.

According to Francisco Mucanheia, despite the pandemic crisis, the overall production of Sofala province registered in the first six months an increase of one point six percent.

Speaking this Friday at a press conference, that deputy of the Assembly of the Republic, expressed concern over the disrespect for the norms of prevention of the new coronavirus in some sectors of labor activity and others.

In the province of Sofala, the members of the commission of public administration and local government of the assembly of the republic will work in the districts of Beira, Dondo and Nhamatanda.

During five days, several meetings are also planned with the state representative councils, provincial executive, local authorities, provincial assembly and the office of anti-corruption.
