Mozambique Wants More Cooperation with China to Accelerate Economic Recovery

Mozambique wants to strengthen cooperation with China against the Covid-19 pandemic in order to promote the recovery of the local economy, advanced the Chinese Embassy in Maputo.

The Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, and the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Ernesto Tonela, called for greater bilateral cooperation at a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique, Wang Hejun, on Monday.

Armindo Tiago praised the Chinese contribution to the global vaccination program that has helped African countries, including Mozambique, to obtain covid-19 vaccines.

China has helped Mozambique relaunch bilateral projects that had been suspended at the beginning of the pandemic, noted Ernesto Tonela, who called for greater cooperation in the area of mineral resources and energy.

Wang Hejun promised to strengthen Sino-Mozambican cooperation against covid-19, notably by helping Mozambique obtain more doses of Chinese-produced vaccines, the embassy said in a statement Tuesday.
