The Mozambique Tax Authority (AT) and the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) reaffirmed on Friday, July 4, in Maputo, their commitment to strengthening inter-institutional cooperation based on “continuous and constructive dialogue” aimed at facilitating taxpayers’ lives and promoting sustainable economic growth.
According to a statement from the Tax Authority, the reaffirmation of the partnership took place during a courtesy visit by CTA President Álvaro Massingue to the AT headquarters, where he was received by AT President Aníbal Mbalango. The meeting served to share “strategic visions and strengthen communication channels” between the two institutions.
During the meeting, the AT president revealed that the revenue collection target for the current year has been set at approximately 385.8 billion meticais (6 billion US dollars), stressing that achieving this goal largely depends on the “active collaboration of the private sector, represented by the CTA,” particularly in adhering strictly to tax legislation and procedures. “This meeting is timely and highly relevant for deepening institutional dialogue, especially at a time when tax administration modernization and taxpayer convenience are top priorities,” Aníbal Mbalango stated.
For his part, Álvaro Massingue expressed gratitude for the AT’s openness and affirmed the CTA’s willingness to contribute to the improvement of national fiscal policy. He also noted that “the meeting represented a strategic opportunity for the CTA to present its concerns and suggestions regarding tax reform.”
The strengthening of collaboration between the two institutions is seen as a decisive step toward creating a “healthier and more predictable business environment” that encourages investment and economic development in the country.
