According to a press release from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mozambique’s participation is a relevant opportunity to establish the necessary guidelines for the country’s economic development, aligned with global initiatives and strategies, in view of current world challenges.

The World Economic Forum, which is held under the motto “Cooperation in a Fragmented World”, has several debates and meetings between different world leaders and organisations, in which matters related with the current energy and food crises, high inflation, industry, technologies and innovation, private sector resilience and multilateral cooperation will be addressed.

“Key business leaders, heads of state and government, politicians, cultural and social leaders, as well as intellectuals and journalists are present at this event, all selected to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world, debate the direction of global economic growth and possible solutions,” the note explains.

With the mission of improving the “State of the World”, through actions taken and executed for over 50 years, the event opens space to reaffirm the value and imperative of dialogue and public-private cooperation, and not only to address current crises.

According to the same note, the meeting also seeks to drive tangible systems, long-term positive change and engagement of world leaders in debates, with a view to finding ways to restore a collective sense of agenda and transform defensive measures into proactive, vision-oriented policies and business strategies.

The World Economic Forum, based in Geneva, Switzerland, was founded in 1971.
