The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, has just announced the resumption of the issuing of border visas for tourism purposes.
The measure, announced in the communication from the Head of State at the end of the year, is aimed at facilitating the entry of foreign nationals wishing to visit the country.
To the same end, passengers on ships and cruise ships will now be allowed to leave the port area, provided they comply with all the health protocol measures for covid-19, including proof of their serological condition.
“The deadline for submitting proof of the negative result of the covid-19 test is also increased from 72 to 96 hours. This is a measure aimed at giving more time to incoming citizens”.
Nyusi also announced the creation of conditions to decongest the borders of Ressano Garcia with South Africa and Namaacha with E-Swatine.
To this end, the Head of State assured that the Mozambican Government will also coordinate with the South African executive the reopening of the crossing point of Ponta d’Ouro, which usually registers an intense movement during the festive season.
