Mozambique Committed to Implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, reiterated Mozambique’s commitment to continue advancing the implementation process of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Speaking at the 47th Executive Council Meeting of the African Union (AU), in which she has been participating since Thursday in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas assured that all conditions are being created for the implementation of the AfCFTA, with the aim of promoting intra-regional and intra-continental trade.

She congratulated the AfCFTA Secretariat for the excellent work carried out, which is reflected in the increasing number of countries joining the initiative.

During this event, the minister witnessed the election of the Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals, Francisca T. Balope from Equatorial Guinea; the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the African Union, Gaspard Banyankibona from Burundi; and five members of the AU Advisory Council against Corruption.
