On Friday, September 29, Vodacom Mozambique laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new data center to be located in the city of Matola, Maputo province.
The infrastructure, which is scheduled to be operational by June 2024, will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, responding to the needs of companies looking to expand their digital presence, improve disaster recovery capabilities and optimize their information technologies.
According to the company’s CEO, Lucas Chachine, the construction of the data center marks another step forward in the futuristic technological mission and vision and in supporting the development of the national economy.
He added that “Vodacom’s new data center is neutral, so companies that join it will have the freedom to choose their own telecommunications service provider”.
“This infrastructure will incorporate the highest security features available in the industry to protect the assets in place, and strict access control measures will be implemented to safeguard critical data and applications, guaranteeing maximum security for users. It will also include advanced cooling systems and redundant power supplies, promoting an environment of innovation and ensuring uninterrupted operations,” he said.
Lucas Chachine said that the works will be carried out in phases, justifying that “the choice of the municipality of Matola for the installation of the enterprise is allied to the fact that it is an ideal location for disaster recovery operations and allows efficient access to local and global markets”.
