South Korea Calls for ‘Effective Laws’ to Accelerate Investment in Mozambique

South Korea’s ambassador to Mozambique, Bok-Won Kang, urged national leaders to pay more attention to drawing up effective laws to speed up the implementation of their investments in the country.

The diplomat made the request on Thursday (13), during a meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Margarida Talapa, in which the parties discussed how to further deepen bilateral cooperation relations in various areas of development.

‘South Korean businesspeople are interested in realising their investments in the country, so we are counting on the support of the Mozambican parliament, which should work to materialise broader legislation,’ said Bok-Won Kang.

For his part, Talapa expressed his willingness to collaborate with the South Korean National Assembly through exchange programmes. ‘Relations between the two countries are excellent, and the South Korean government has been very supportive since 1993.’

Last year, the Asian country pledged 63.2 billion meticals (one billion dollars) to finance various development projects in Mozambique until 2030.

Mozambique and South Korea have already collaborated as non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, strengthening ties between the two countries and enabling future strategic partnerships.
