Silvino Moreno: ‘Mozambique is Available for Foreign Direct Investment’

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Silvino Moreno, said on Wednesday 16 October that the country remains attractive for foreign direct investment, given its potential, Radio Moçambique reported .

Moreno’s position was defended in the Malawian city of Blantyre, at a business meeting with businesspeople from that country. On the occasion, he presented the strategic areas for investment, highlighting agriculture, infrastructure, energy, mineral resources and tourism.

In March of this year, Silvino Moreno guaranteed that the government was working to improve the business environment in the country, while recognising that there was still a long way to go.

At the time, he pointed to the improvement of the current legal framework and the adoption of reforms to ensure the continuous improvement of the business environment, noting that instruments such as the new Private Investment Law, the new Labour Law, the implementation of e-VISA, the revision of the Commercial Code and the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Law – reforms announced for 2022 – illustrate the Executive’s commitment to promoting productive activity in Mozambique.
