According to Mozambique’s Information Agency, Sasol CEO Simon Baloyi said the meeting focused on the company’s investments in the natural gas sector and community development programs.

He reaffirmed Sasol’s commitment to Mozambique’s economic and social development, highlighting progress under the second phase of its local development program (LDA2), valued at around $43 million.

He also pointed to the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA), estimated at approximately $1 billion, aimed at supplying gas to the Temane Thermal Power Plant (CTT), and noted discussions on the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, considered strategic for strengthening regional energy integration and meeting growing energy demand in Southern Africa.

Separately, Varun Beverages Zimbabwe & East Africa CEO Vijay Behel expressed interest in expanding the company’s investments into Mozambique, focusing on dairy products, soft drinks, bottled water, and juices linked to the PepsiCo portfolio.

According to Behel, the meeting with President Chapo provided an opportunity to present a strategic vision focused on sustainable growth and strengthening production and distribution capacity in the Mozambican market.
