Mozambique’s Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA) has announced that two Qatari companies have expressed interest in making new investments in the country. They are Qatar Polymer (a manufacturer and exporter of polypropylene fabric products) and BALADNA (Qatar’s largest food and dairy producer).
As part of the business mission, the CTA initialled a memorandum of understanding with Qatar Polymer in Doha, which aims, among other things, to establish the company in Mozambique. The Confederation emphasised that its managers will visit the country in November.
Qatar Polymer was founded in 1999 and has an installed production capacity of 12,000 metric tonnes per year. It is owned by one of Qatar’s largest business groups, Al Dolaimi Holding, and has 400 employees.
For its part, BALADNA has shown its intention to invest in the agricultural sector, more specifically in the production of alfalfa. To this end, negotiations are underway for those responsible to visit the country soon.
The business mission, which began on 14 September, was organised by CTA, in partnership with the Mozambican Embassy in Qatar, the Mozambican Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) and the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC).
