A delegation of Dutch businesspeople is in Manica to assess investment opportunities in various sectors, especially agriculture. The group has been visiting the province’s 12 districts, analysing the local potential for future partnerships and projects.
‘Both sides have shown great interest, because the agricultural sector in Manica has enormous potential. The conditions in this region are favourable, and the Netherlands is interested in doing business. As you know, our country is the second largest agricultural producer in the world, and many of our products are processed in the Netherlands. So there is a need to expand this processing chain to other regions,’ said one of the investors during a meeting with local authorities.
In response, the governor of Manica, Francisca Tomás, highlighted the province’s potential for attracting investment, emphasising that the region has fertile land and favourable climatic conditions for various crops.
‘There is potential for the production of coffee, wheat, barley, cashew nuts and ginger, among other products. We are prepared to welcome investments that will boost the agricultural sector and contribute to local development,’ he said.
In addition to agriculture, the provincial government has encouraged Dutch businesspeople to consider investments in mining and agro-processing.
‘The province has several mineral occurrences with potential for large-scale exploitation and processing. They have already seen our natural wealth and the viability of projects in this sector,’ added the governor.
The authorities assured that Manica has land available for the implementation of projects that investors wish to develop. The Dutch business mission will continue its visits over the next few days, holding meetings with potential local partners to further analyse the opportunities identified.
