France and the Netherlands have reaffirmed their interest in strengthening cooperation with Mozambique, with a focus on key economic sectors including agriculture, logistics, energy and maritime development.
The commitment was expressed by the Dutch ambassador, Elsbeth Akkerman, and the French ambassador, Yann Pradeau, following separate audiences on Thursday with President Daniel Chapo, held in the context of the conclusion of their respective diplomatic missions in Mozambique.
Ambassador Akkerman underscored the importance of the economic partnership with Mozambique, identifying maritime logistics as a particularly significant area for development. She indicated that cooperation between the two countries will continue to centre on the Beira and Nacala development corridors.
'The Netherlands and Mozambique continue to cooperate. We are promoting our economic partnership through interventions in the development corridors, both Beira and Nacala, particularly in agriculture, agro-logistics and maritime development,' Akkerman said.
The outgoing Dutch ambassador also expressed confidence in the continued growth of bilateral relations and extended her appreciation to Mozambican authorities for their hospitality throughout her tenure in the country.
French Ambassador Yann Pradeau, who is concluding a mission of nearly four years in Mozambique, highlighted bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, cultural and creative industries, defence, and regional cooperation in the Mozambique Channel.
Pradeau also pointed to the prospect of new high-level visits between Mozambique and France in the coming months, citing the broad range of shared interests between the two countries. 'We hope to have the opportunity to organise new high-level visits between our two countries in the coming months, as we share a great deal, including our proximity in this part of the world,' he said.
The audiences served to reaffirm the commitment of both France and the Netherlands to continuing to strengthen and deepen their cooperation with Mozambique across a range of areas of mutual interest.
