Businesspeople from the United Arab Emirates expressed on Saturday, June 21, their interest in supporting Mozambique in implementing social initiatives aimed at addressing urgent needs in the health and education sectors.
“We are fully committed to finding the best ways to support the urgent needs in the health and education sectors,” stated businessman Murat Annamuradov, on the sidelines of a meeting with Mozambique’s First Lady, Gueta Chapo, who has been visiting the Gulf country since Tuesday, June 17.
Annamuradov said the support will focus primarily on girls’ education, women’s empowerment, and community health promotion.
“Later, we may expand into other areas such as agriculture. We have outstanding teams that can contribute to agricultural modernization, fertilizers, and more,” he added.
Meanwhile, Tariq Nizami, president of the Club of Chairmen of Boards of Directors of Dubai-based Companies, said a group of entrepreneurs will travel to Mozambique in the coming months to “see the reality on the ground” and offer appropriate support.
In April, Mozambican authorities had announced that the United Arab Emirates had ranked first among the top investors in the country over the past five years.
“Despite the trade balance with the UAE being unfavorable for Mozambique, it has shown remarkable growth in exports, which reached 639 million dollars, with potential for further growth and diversification,” stated Fredson Bacar, Secretary of State for Tourism, at the time.
