The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) has warned on Wednesday afternoon, 15 February, of the occurrence of more rain in the coming days across the country.
According to meteorologist Manuel Francisco, moderate to heavy rains are forecast for Maputo province, with the districts of Matutuíne and Magude likely to be affected, while for the capital city, weak rains are expected, with a record of flooding in streets and residences, especially in neighbourhoods prone to flooding.
“INAM also forecasts a slowdown of rain in Gaza and Inhambane provinces. However, we warn of continued moderate to very heavy rains in the central and northern areas,” said Manuel Francisco.
The source also stressed that the low-lying areas of Manica and Zambézia provinces could experience flooding, due to the rains that continue to fall in these regions.
INAM recommended taking precautionary and safety measures in view of the risks associated with the weather conditions.
