Government Guarantees to Examine Students Victims of Terrorism When Security Has Returned to Normal

The Ministry of Education and Human Development has reaffirmed its attention to the situation of terrorism in Cabo Delgado province, assuring that all students displaced due to the attacks will be examined as soon as security is normalized.

This assurance was given today, 28 November, in Chicualacuala district, in Gaza province, by Minister Carmelita Namachulua, during the opening of the secondary school exams process.

The minister did not give the numbers of students barred from the final assessment of the 6th and 7th grades, and of the 4th year of adult literacy. However, she mentioned that there were 36 examination centres closed due to military instability.

“We are monitoring the provincial situation in some districts of Cabo Delgado, and as soon as the security situation is normalised, these children, duly identified, will be assessed. But for now, we cannot expose our children to risky situations”, explained Carmelita Namachulua, quoted by Notícias.

Regarding the rainy period that coincides with the exams, the minister challenged teachers and school managers to find safer places to put the students to perform the exams without adversities.

The final exams of the 10th and 12th grades of General Secondary Education, a process that involves more than 600 thousand students, started today, on a national scale.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH) has created 1541 centres and/or schools where the final exams of this education subsystem will take place.
