The government, led by Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, has completed 23 of the 96 indicators planned for the first 100 days of government, following his inauguration on 15 January. The information was revealed this Tuesday, 25 March, during a press briefing held in the city of Lichinga, Niassa province, by the spokesperson for the Council of Ministers, Inocêncio Impissa.
According to the data presented, quoted by Agência de Informação de Moçambique, the implementation of the indicators is well underway, with 73 of the plans currently being implemented. Of these, 61 have surpassed the 50 per cent achievement mark, eight are between 25 and 49 per cent and four have progressed below 24 per cent. Impissa, who is also Minister of State Administration and Civil Service, emphasised that the government’s efficiency and commitment have been evident in the figures achieved.
In the health sector, the government met and exceeded the targets set. Over the 67 days, 706 surgeries were carried out, a figure that exceeded the 500 initially planned. The operations included 212 general surgeries, 49 biological surgeries, 201 orthopaedic surgeries and 244 miscellaneous surgeries, with the cities of Nampula, Quelimane, Beira and Maputo also making a significant contribution to achieving the targets.
‘These indicators not only reached 100%, but exceeded the target set,’ said Impissa, emphasising the positive impact on the population.
In addition to the surgeries, the government also distributed 40,640 uniforms to health professionals in all ten of the country’s provinces, including Maputo, as part of efforts to improve working conditions and biosafety in the sector.
In the area of connectivity and access to education, Chapo’s government has already connected 100 schools to the Internet in various provinces of the country. The provinces of Gaza, Tete, Manica, Sofala and Inhambane have benefited, with Gaza standing out with 28 schools connected.
Another significant point addressed was the progress in the Emprega project, with the delivery of 1502 driving licences, distributed in various provinces of the country, including Manica, Pemba, Maputo and Niassa. Inocêncio Impissa also highlighted the completion of 1,841 household water connections, surpassing the target of 1,300.
The plan for the first 100 days was part of the new government’s agenda. On Monday 24 March, the Mozambican President began a four-day working visit to Niassa, where several of these government actions are expected to be further developed.
