State Collects 59 Billion in Tax Revenues

The Mozambican State collected in fiscal revenues, between January and March of the current year, about 59.867,1 million meticais, which corresponds to 31,3% of the annual forecast.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), during the period under review the Income Tax had a collection of 21.838,8 million meticais, equivalent to 21,0% of the annual forecast and a growth of 0,7% in nominal terms.

“The Corporate Income Tax (IRPC) had a collection of 10.258,8 million meticais, corresponding to 16,6% of the annual forecast and a growth of 7,6%”, it states.

In the State Budget Execution Report for the first quarter of this year, the MEF also points out that 11.531,5 million meticais were collected in the Personal Income Tax (IRPS), equivalent to 27,8% of the annual target and a nominal growth of 10,2% in relation to the same period last year.

“The collection of the Special Gaming Tax reached the amount of 48.5 million meticais, corresponding to 5.6% of the annual forecast and a nominal drop of 53.2% compared to the same period of 2020, justified by the closure of casinos due to the Covid-19 outbreak”, he stresses.

The source also refers to the disbursements of external financing (donations and credits), to reduce the budget deficit and, in this context, highlighted that they reached the value of 5,138.3 million meticais, equivalent to 8.6% of the annual forecast.

“By modalities, the funding via Treasury Single Account (CUT) reached the corresponding 3.3% and the outside of the CUT was about 12.1%,” advances the Ministry.

In the report, the MEF also points out that during the period under review, the disbursements in external credits reached the amount of 2.012,2 million Meticals and donations (also external) 3.126,0 million Meticals, corresponding to 7,9% and 9,2% of the annual forecast, respectively.
