The deputy director-general of Mozambique’s Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), Estevão Fernandes, says there are signs that the budget shortfall for holding next year’s municipal elections may soon be overcome.
Estevão Fernandes says the Government and partners are committed to mobilising the missing 1.9 billion.
“From the budget that the electoral bodies presented to the Government, which was 3.2 billion, there was a deficit of 1.9 billion until recently. This amount will be disbursed very soon, in a process that is being dealt with at the level of the Ministry of Economy and Finance,” he said, quoted by Radio Mozambique.
