The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique is calling for a review of the law that regulates the operationalisation of the environmental packaging tax system.
The President of the CTA, Agostinho Vuma, said that the regulation on packaging should not be an instrument for the proliferation of fees and taxes.
That’s why the entrepreneurs are discussing a proposal in Maputo that should be presented to the government, through the Ministry of Land and Environment, the body that approved the law in 2017.
João Frades, vice-president of the Land and Environment department at the CTA, believes that the fees should go to the producer and importer of packaging.
During the seminar, national entrepreneurs also discussed the proposed decree on registration and certification of importers and exporters of basic food products, as well as the climate finance project.
