Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Exceeds First Quarter Output by 6.1%

The company Hidroelétrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) registered in the first quarter of 2021, a production of energy of 3 671.91 GWh, 6.1% above what was planned for the quarter in reference.

This positive performance of production is the result of investments in the modernisation of equipment in the production chain of the power plant and dynamic management, focused on continuous improvement of engineering processes and the entire administrative chain of production, transport and marketing of clean and reliable energy, the statement said.

According to HCB, the result achieved allows the company to continue implementing its modernisation projects, to comply with its contracts for the supply of goods, services and equipment for production and transport of energy, and with payment of taxes and the concession fee to the state.

The company guarantees that it will remain committed to achieving the annual production target of 14 125.53 GWh, while implementing, with maximum rigour, an internal protocol for the prevention of COVID-19 and constant analysis of its impact on the company’s operational performance.
