Tax Authority Collects Over 63 Billion Meticals

The Tax Authority of Mozambique (AT) has collected 63.322.949,40 thousand meticais of revenue in the first quarter of this year which corresponds to 23,48% of the annual target of 265.596.102,48 thousand meticais.

The information was revealed recently in Ressano Garcia, Maputo province, by the director of Standards and Customs Procedures of the AT, Algy Aly, during the ceremony of official delivery of Covid-19 protection material, in a partnership with Trade Mark East Africa.

According to Algy Aly, for foreign trade, a target of 18,165,023.87 thousand meticals had been programmed, and 17,755,328.29 thousand meticals were collected, which means 97.74% of the target.

“In the first quarter, Customs got 97.74% and the Tax Authority exceeded the target by another six percentage points,” he said.

Aly congratulated the Tax Authority employees for their success in revenue collection during the first quarter.

“I would like to take this opportunity to effusively congratulate the employees of the Tax Authority of Mozambique and in particular those assigned to the General Directorate of Customs for the success in revenue collection in the first quarter of the year 2021, despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19,” he said.
