The President of the Republic announced this Sunday night, 25, the reopening of churches, theaters, casinos, art galleries and gymnasiums, and the holding of matches of the National Football Championship.
Filipe Nyusi thus withdraws some restrictive measures imposed on April 6 by the Situation of Public Calamity in force in the country.
These measures were taken in consideration of the fact that the country has registered in the last 21 days the “decreasing progression” of the disease indexes, with the monitoring indicators in education stable, despite the “positivity rate in Nampula, Zambezia and Niassa provinces remaining above 10%”.
Still, according to the President, churches may be reopened as long as they observe the health protocol, and the resumption of services, conferences and meetings should not exceed 30% of their maximum capacity, nor 50 people in closed places and 100 people in open places.
The Head of State also authorized the reopening of casinos, museums, theaters, cinemas, auditoriums, galleries, cultural centers, at up to 40% of the venue’s capacity, and the reopening of class A and B gyms (up to 30% and 15% of capacity, respectively), the opening of hotel establishments’ swimming pools for the exclusive use of guests.
Athletes are required to undergo Covid-19 screening tests, and those who test positive will be subjected to the isolation regime
In commerce, Filipe Nyusi announced the enlargement of the timetable of the commercial centers that will be, on Sundays and holidays from 9 to 18 hours, and from Monday to Saturday the timetable is from 9 to 19 hours, as well as the enlargement of the functioning of the bakeries and pastry shops from 5 to 20 hours.
In the same way, the resumption of the soccer championship, known as Moçambola, has been authorized, but the presence of the public is still forbidden.
Athletes are required to undergo Covid-19 screening tests, and those who test positive will be put in isolation.
On the other hand, the maximum number of visits to prisons has been extended to two per month and, exceptionally, in justified situations and after prior evaluation by the Ministry of Justice, conferences and meetings with a number not exceeding 300 people may be authorized.
As for the curfew, it is now maintained between 10 pm and 4 am in the 11 provincial capitals of the country.
The other measures imposed on April 6 remain in place and those announced on Sunday by the President will come into force on Tuesday, April 27 and will be in force for a month.
