More than 15,000 Mozambican workers from South African mines are due to return to the country starting this Thursday, 22 December, for the Christmas and end of year festivities, the head of operations at the South African miners recruitment agency (Teba), José Carimo told Rádio Moçambique.
These Mozambican workers are part of a group of 17,000 who work in the South African mines.
The first group will arrive as of Thursday evening for the collective holiday, and most will do so via the country’s biggest crossing point, the Ressano Garcia border.
According to José Carimo, “the mines have set up a period of collective holidays from the 23rd. As such, the vast majority of workers will cross the border between the night of 22 and 23 December.”
