The Minister of Public Works, Housing, and Water Resources, Fernando Rafael, has been participating, from yesterday, the 14th, through today, Wednesday, in Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, in the conference of the German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), a prominent platform for dialogue among business leaders, policymakers, and international partners.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday, the main objective of the trip is to position Mozambique as a priority destination for productive investment.
The Mozambican delegation’s agenda focuses on sectors considered strategic for the country’s economic growth, with an emphasis on infrastructure modernization, housing, and water resource management. “The mission also covers areas such as energy, sanitation, and digitalization, which are considered fundamental to the modernization of the economy and job creation, particularly through support for small and medium-sized enterprises,” the document states.
In addition to the conference’s formal sessions, the agenda in Berlin includes high-level bilateral meetings with global companies and development institutions. Among these, meetings with representatives from Siemens, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development stand out, with the aim of strengthening partnerships, promoting technology transfer, and securing sustainable financing.
To ensure the effectiveness of the agreements to be reached, Fernando Rafael is accompanied by experts from the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (IPEME) and senior officials from the Ministry of Public Works, Housing, and Water Resources.
The mission also has the support of the Ambassador of the Republic of Mozambique to Germany, reinforcing its diplomatic and economic nature. “It is hoped that the participation will result in concrete partnerships capable of boosting the national economy, aligning domestic needs with German experience and technological capacity,” the document states.
