President Daniel Chapo is participating on 11 and 12 May in the France-Africa Summit, titled Africa Forward, taking place in Nairobi, in the Kenya, under the theme “Partnerships Between Africa and France for Innovation and Growth.”
According to a statement cited by Rádio Moçambique, the Mozambican head of state’s participation in the international event comes in response to an invitation extended by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto.
The statement notes that the Nairobi Summit serves as a high-level platform dedicated to strengthening the economic partnership between Africa and France, with a special focus on promoting innovation, highlighting the contribution of young entrepreneurs to sustainable development, and sharing success stories related to the summit’s thematic areas.
Other African heads of state and government are also participating, alongside senior representatives from regional and international organisations, international partners, financial institutions, investors, and young entrepreneurs.
During the trip, Chapo is accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries, Roberto Mito Albino; the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Mozambican Community Abroad, Maria de Fátima Simão Manso; the Secretary of State for Mines, Jorge Daúdo; Mozambique’s ambassadors to France and Kenya, Alberto Maverengue Augusto and Jacinto Januário Maguni, respectively; as well as officials from the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
