Filipe Nyusi, arrived this Sunday evening, November 6, in the city of Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, where he will participate, today, Monday, in the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).
The meeting, which brings together more than 197 leaders, non-governmental organizations and civil society, aims to discuss the mechanisms to reduce the impact of climate change, ensure the resilience of infrastructure, energy transition, adaptation, food and water security.
During the summit, Nyusi will participate in side events, with a focus on the high-level panel on Reducing Loss, Damage and Disaster Risk in Africa, organized by Mozambique as the African Champion.
At the conference, the Mozambican Head of State will convey the country’s commitment to mitigate the effect of extreme climate phenomena, as well as the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
Today, Monday, Filipe Nyusi will hold meetings with representatives of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Policy makers, academics and non-governmental organizations are meeting until the 18th in Sharm el-Sheikh at the COP27, with the aim of limiting global warming to two degrees Celsius, among other goals.
